Afri-Garifuna Jazz Ensemble CD Release Party
Taguiera (Homeland)
Celebrate the official launch of Taguiera (Homeland), the first recording by The Afri-Garifuna Jazz Ensemble, a unique group that fuses jazz with the Garifuna tradition, incorporating instruments such as such as maracas, Garifuna drums, turtle shells, conch shells, and the Garifuna language, along with piano and bass, imbibing it with a distinctive sound. Activities will include a reception, CD signing, and performance by the acclaimed ensemble, with Garifuna artwork on display and Garifuna food for sale throughout the evening.
