Join us for an evening of panels, performances, and demonstrations from the women who take center-stage in the world of hip hop as B-girls, DJs, MCs, and graffiti writers! Featuring Deena Clemente of Tru Esencia, Inc, Peaches Rodriguez, Big Tara, KayLove, Laura Alvarez, Sheri Sher of the Mercedes Young Ladies, Patty Dukes, DJ Perly, Nicole Denner, and Sabina Ciari. 6:00: Graffiti writers Kay Love and Laura Alvarez give a tour of the Sheridan service road murals. Returning to BMHC, they'll do a mural demo! 7:30: Discussion with b-girls Deena Clemente of Tru Esencia, Peaches Rodriguez, Big Tara Anomolies, tap dancer Nicole Denner, and capoeira practitioner Sabina Ciara. Discussion will go over technique and types of dances plus short demonstrations. Accompanied by DJ Perly. 8:45: MC performance by Sheri Sher of Mercedes Young Ladies - the first all-female DJ/MC crew from our neighborhood, Morrisania, Bronx - and Patty Dukes of Circa 95!
